Tour (LUMB4-N):
The Buddhist
pilgrimage site 'Lumbini' situated at south of Nepal in Kapilvastu
District. It is about 300 km far from Kathmandu and 195 km from
Pokhara. Where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautam
in 623 BC. is the founder of Buddhism. The sacred garden, spread
over 8 sq. km. where you can visit Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar,
Puskarni Pond, Monastries etc.
Mayadevi temple is the famous temple in Lumbini, where Siddhartha
Gautam was born. In the west of this Temple, there is Ashoka
Pillar which was erected by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC to preserve
his pilgrimage to the sacred site. The inscription on it is in
Brahmi script that proves Lumbini as the birth place of Buddha.
Before enlightened, he was Shakya prince of Kapilvastu.
Near of the Mayadevi Temple, Puskarni (Holy Pond) is situated
where Maya Devi had taken a holy bath in Pushkarni before giving
birth to Buddha. Even the baby Siddhartha was given his first
purification bath in the pond. |

The village
of Tilaurakot is about 30km east of Lumbini. It is believed to
have been the location of the Kapilvastu royal palace where the
Buddha grew up as the Shakya dynasty prince until the age of
29. Moreover, many countries such as Japan, China, India, Thailand,
Myanmar, Vietnam, France and Germany are constructing monasteries
and meditation centers around the sacred garden. |

Day 1:
Departure from Kathmandu to Lumbini (about 300km) by private
vehicle, 8hrs.
Short walk around Lumbini village with professional local guide.
Night in Guest House.
Day 02:
Full day visit sacred garden with professional local guide, including
Maya Devi Temple, where Buddha was born in 623 BC, near by Puskarni
Pond where Buddha's Mother had taken a bathe before giving birth
of Buddha, Ashoka Pillar which was erected by Emperor Ashoka
in 249 BC to preserve his pilgrimage to the sacred site where
you will find the inscription in Brahmi script proves Lumbini
as the birth place of Buddha, visit different monasteries constructed
by differents contries like Myanmar Temple, China Temple, Korean
Temple etc. Night in guest house.
Day 03:
After breakfast, drive to Tilaurakot 27 km with professional
local guide. the historical town of Kapilavastu and the ancient
capital of Shakya, where ruins and mounds of old stupa and monasteries
made of kiln-fired bricks and clay mortar.
Pack lunch in Tilaurakot then visit Kudan about 5 km south of
Tilaurakot; visit old stupa and monasteries. There are belived
to Kasya Stupa, where a Kasaya (yello robe worn by monks) was
resented to Lord Buddha. This is where king Suddhodhan met Lord
Buddha for the first time after he returned form Englightement.
Back to Lumbini. Night in Guest House.
Day 04:
Departure from Lumbini to Kathmandu 3,00 km by private vehicle.
