Good
experience of trekking desired. Mustang, formerly part of Tibet,
is an enclave in the Nepalese territory. Under the aegis of an
easy-going "little king", this country was opened to
treks only since 1992. For a long time it was completely closed,
and only some Tibetologists like Michel PEISSEL or Giuseppe TUCCI
could reach it. Situated 50 kms behind the massifs of Annapurnas
and Dhaulagiris, this legendary and secret country, comprises
of vast stretches of water and of yellow and grey rocks, of cave-dwellers
in the red cliffs, of immense canyons where sometime blow the
violent winds and the surprisingly fortified capital of Lho Manthang.
This little kingdom of Tibetan culture possesses several active
monasteries that still enclose the treasures of Buddhist arts..(
